O Holy Night: Fact #4
Hey there! Welcome back to my series where I share facts about my upcoming author-illustrator picture book with Bloomsbury Books, O Holy Night: A Modern Christmas Carol, up until its pub day on September 22, 2026. You can find the previous fact here.
The fourth fact is a simple one. Check it out below:
O HOLY NIGHT FACT #4:
The wreath on the title page is based on my family's front door Christmas wreath.

I would have taken a picture of our actual Christmas wreath and I would have posted it here, but I didn't feel like going into the garage and digging it out of the Christmas storage bin. (I'm sorry!) I can describe it, though! Our wreath is a simple pine wreath, and I believe it came with the red velvet bow. It also has pinecones and holly berries attached to it. I took red velvet ribbon that we happened to have laying around and I wrapped it around the wreath too.
Our wreath doesn't have string lights, but I wish it did. That's what I love most about illustration! If it doesn't exist, you can just draw it in. That's what I did for the title page wreath. I believe the addition of the string lights upped the whimsy overall, and having a front door wreath on the title page makes it feel like you're standing at the book's "front door," about to walk in.

O Holy Night: A Modern Christmas Carol is available to preorder now. It will be released on September 22, 2026!
Sleigh bells ring,
