O HOLY NIGHT: FACT #2

Endpapers reveal! Endpapers are one of my most favorite parts of a picture book and these were fun to illustrate. 

These endpapers included everything that Zuri, the main character, and her family used to decorate their house. There's a pine bough wreath with a red bow, red ribbon, strings of multicolor C9 lights, strings of warm white lights, and candy cane lawn decorations on top of a hardwood floor.

From the very beginning of the picture book project, I knew exactly what I wanted the endpapers to look like. I also knew that I wanted them to feel warm and glowy, just like my favorite childhood Christmas memories. Check out the sketch to final art GIF below:

I feel like it's the perfect opening to this cozy, homey Christmas picture book.
